Role Summary

The Marine Design Engineer will oversee the development and implementation of complex marine engineering systems from initial concept through final design. This role is central to producing well-integrated, competitive yachts that emphasize both engineering quality and the customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and integrate vessel structural elements, interiors, deck fittings, machinery setups, and other features with attention to manufacturability, serviceability, and visual appeal.
• Collaborate closely with naval architects, systems engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to formulate effective and high-quality design solutions.
• Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including 3D modeling, construction blueprints, fabrication and installation drawings, bills of materials, and change orders.
• Work with suppliers to define material specifications, ensure component compatibility, and assist in procurement processes.
• Provide technical support during prototype construction, production phases, system commissioning, and subsequent service by addressing design challenges and promoting continuous improvements.
• Engage in design reviews and help refine Hinckley's products, engineering standards, and development workflows.

Qualifications and Experience

• Between 5 and 10 years of professional experience in engineering or marine design roles.
• Expertise in Rhino 3D and AutoCAD 2D is essential; familiarity with additional 3D CAD platforms is advantageous.
• Strong grounding in mechanical design concepts, manufacturing techniques, and drafting protocols.
• Knowledge of marine construction techniques, composite materials, or yacht design is preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• An associate degree or certificate in engineering, marine technology, drafting/design, or related subjects is required; a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, marine engineering, naval architecture, or related fields is preferable.
