Machine Maintenance Technician

About the Role

As a Machine Maintenance Technician at GE Aerospace Engine Services Singapore, you will be responsible for conducting preventive and corrective maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of heat treatment furnaces, plant equipment, and related systems. Your role will encompass tasks across multiple trades including electrical and mechanical installation, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, pipefitting, machining, and welding to ensure optimal functioning of equipment and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair furnaces, plant instruments, microprocessor-controlled equipment, and measurement devices.
• Perform maintenance on heaters, insulation, sensors, control panels, vacuum pumps, cooling towers, and water systems.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance, installation, fabrication, and calibration (outside QA control) of plant machinery and support infrastructure.
• Develop innovative installation and diagnostic methods when technical manuals are unavailable or insufficient.
• Establish and maintain calibration protocols to regulate instrument and controller performance effectively.
• Keep accurate documentation for traceability of maintenance activities completed.
• Determine and maintain stock levels for new and existing equipment.
• Interpret and work independently from technical drawings, sketches, and manuals.
• Provide practical training and mentorship to junior technicians.
• Exercise high safety standards to mitigate hazards including working at heights, enclosed spaces, live electrical components, flammable atmospheres, suspended heavy machinery, and the use of power tools.
• Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards and regulations, conduct thorough post-maintenance safety checks, and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Adhere strictly to all EHS policies as outlined in EHS OP 283.00.
• Perform scheduled housekeeping and maintenance tasks to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years experience in machine maintenance and furnaces, preferably between 2 to 3 years.
• Relevant educational background such as Higher NITEC/NTC2 in electrical, electronic, mechanical, or mechatronics fields, or equivalent qualifications.
• Diploma or ITC in the mentioned disciplines is preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend manufacturing operation sheets and standard operating procedures written in English.
• Versatility in electrical, electronic, and mechanical engineering practices is advantageous.
• Possession of a valid forklift license.
• Working knowledge of computer operations, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and workshop skills.
