About the Role

UVA Community Health is part of UVA Health’s academic health system and focuses on bringing high-quality care closer to the communities it serves. This full-time non-exempt position supports multiple departments by ensuring reliable access to linens and scrubs, helping daily operations run smoothly across the facility.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will act as the point of contact for linen needs across departments. You will manage linen-related services, maintain stock levels, track inventory, handle linen distribution, and process used or discarded linens as needed. The position also involves customer service and coordination with internal teams.

• Serve as a liaison for departments that depend on linen and scrub supply.
• Support par-level control, stock replenishment, and inventory tracking.
• Carry out linen delivery, collection, and discard tasks.
• Respond to internal customer requests promptly and professionally.
• Keep work areas orderly and ensure supplies are available when needed.
• Perform additional duties assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Prior experience in linen distribution or laundry production is also preferred. Candidates must be able to read and understand instructions written in English, manage multiple tasks, prioritize work effectively, and work independently.

Preferred knowledge includes hospital linen and laundry requirements, along with basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook and Excel.

• Maintain cleanliness standards across facility spaces and equipment.
• Clean floors, furniture, walls, restrooms, patient rooms, and surgical areas according to procedure.
• Use caution signs appropriately during cleaning tasks.
• Return equipment to proper storage after use.
• Support facility sanitation and linen management needs.
• Refill dispensable supplies such as tissues and paper towels.
• Remove trash and keep receptacles clean.
• Provide courteous service to both internal and external customers.
• Answer calls, respond to requests, and handle issues in a positive manner.

Physical Demands

This position has medium-to-heavy physical demands. It requires standing for long periods, frequent walking, and bending or stooping. Strong communication, hearing, and visual abilities are needed, along with attention to detail and legible handwriting. The role involves lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 100 lbs; for anything above 35 lbs, safe handling equipment must be used.

Additional Information

• Safety equipment such as a HEPA mask may be required for infection prevention.
• On-call duties are not required.
• Travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, or out of town is not required.

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is $16.00 to $20.05 per hour. Final compensation will depend on the selected candidate’s qualifications, prior experience, and/or education. Incentive pay such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other eligible programs may also be available.
