Our dispersed teams work across various departments including Legal, Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Finance, HR, Information Security, Operations, Procurement, and Executive Leadership to manage regulatory requirements, mitigate legal risks, and enhance organizational governance globally.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Legal Compliance Manager to guide the strategy for legal compliance, monitor regulatory changes, manage compliance programs, govern policies, and conduct risk assessments. This role involves translating complex laws and regulations into effective controls, procedures, training, and compliance monitoring, while fostering a culture of ethical business conduct.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and execute legal compliance strategies, frameworks, policies, and plans aligned with organizational goals and relevant laws.
- Stay updated on UAE laws, regulations, licensing requirements, contracts, and global legal developments affecting company activities.
- Conduct compliance assessments, gap and risk analyses, control reviews, and remediation initiatives across departments.
- Collaborate extensively with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit, Finance, HR, Information Security, Procurement, Operations, Commercial teams, and Executives.
- Define compliance requirements regarding governance, contracts, employment law, data protection, anti-bribery, sanctions, competition law, consumer rights, licensing, and other regulations.
- Maintain centralized registers for legal obligations, compliance calendars, regulatory inventories, policy libraries, control frameworks, and evidence management.
- Develop and update compliance policies, codes of conduct, standards, guidance, regulatory summaries, and internal controls.
- Lead reviews of contracts, processes, third-party relationships, marketing, procurement, operations, and strategic projects for compliance risks.
- Manage inquiries, investigations, escalations, legal notices, remediation efforts, and interactions with regulatory bodies, coordinating with legal counsel.
- Implement third-party compliance programs including due diligence, onboarding, contractual compliance, risk classification, monitoring, screening, certifications, and remediation.
- Design and deliver compliance training on legal obligations, ethics, anti-corruption, conflicts of interest, data protection, and organizational policies.
- Monitor KPIs such as compliance incidents, regulatory findings, policy and training completion rates, remediation timelines, control effectiveness, third-party compliance, legal risks, and audit results.
- Conduct internal compliance reviews, readiness assessments, audits, control tests, and investigations, driving continuous improvements.
- Administer budgets and manage relationships with external legal advisors, compliance consultants, technology vendors, training providers, and compliance partnerships.
- Lead digital transformation by implementing AI-assisted regulatory monitoring, automatic compliance workflows, legal obligation mapping, contract analytics, policy management, risk analytics, and advanced compliance reporting.
- Utilize platforms and tools including ServiceNow GRC, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, Tableau, Diligent, OneTrust, Workiva, NAVEX, Thomson Reuters Regulatory Intelligence, Wolters Kluwer solutions, CLM systems, and GRC technology.
- Prepare executive dashboards, regulatory updates, risk assessments, compliance reports, investigation summaries, policy reviews, audit responses, remediation plans, and strategic advice for leadership and governance committees.
- Lead, mentor, and grow compliance teams comprising specialists, legal analysts, and risk professionals, promoting integrity, accountability, and transparent continuous improvement.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Legal Studies, Business Administration, Compliance, Risk Management, or related fields.
- Possession of a law degree such as LLB or JD is highly valued.
- Master's degree in Law, Compliance, Corporate Governance, Risk Management, or MBA preferred.
- Certifications like Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) are advantageous.
- At least 5 years experience in legal or regulatory compliance, corporate compliance, or risk management.
- Minimum of 2 years managing legal compliance programs, investigations, or multidisciplinary governance projects preferred.
- Strong knowledge of UAE legal and regulatory systems, corporate governance, compliance risk management, contract governance, internal controls, and ethical practices.
- Experience with ServiceNow GRC, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, Tableau, Diligent, OneTrust, Workiva, NAVEX, Thomson Reuters Regulatory Intelligence, Wolters Kluwer, CLM platforms, and GRC tools.
- Familiarity with AI-driven regulatory intelligence, automated compliance monitoring, legal analytics, contract analysis, regulatory change management, and policy automation is highly beneficial.
- Exceptional legal analysis, communication, leadership, stakeholder management, risk assessment, investigation, project management, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Capable of handling multiple compliance projects balancing legal demands, regulatory expectations, business operations, budgets, confidentiality, risk exposure, and timelines.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team environment with occasional travel for audits, investigations, training, governance meetings, and strategic planning.
