Job description

About The Position

This role involves performing various tasks related to the maintenance and enhancement of the community infrastructure managed by the Council. Work includes a range of duties on utilities, roads, parks, and reserves, supporting construction and upkeep projects. The role requires skilled labor, truck driving, plant operation, and other job functions linked to roads, drainage, bridges, parks, water, and sewer systems. Entry requirements depend on skills, certifications, and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and care for parks, reserves, and sports fields, including gardening and horticultural activities
  • Carry out general maintenance, minor construction, and labor work on Council road networks, meeting quality standards
  • Assist with traffic management and emergency response tasks
  • Operate plant equipment, trucks, and vehicles safely and efficiently for transporting materials and conducting maintenance work under supervision, following Council guidelines
  • Adhere to workplace health and safety procedures, complete necessary paperwork such as risk assessments and pre-start checks

Candidate Requirements

  • Possession of current Class C Driver Licence
  • General construction induction card or willingness to acquire it
  • SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training Card or willingness to obtain
  • Preferably HR or HC Truck Licence and traffic control certifications, or willingness to obtain
  • Proven experience in laboring and ability to collaborate effectively within a team
  • Competency certificates for operating machinery (e.g., loader, skid steer, excavator, grader) are advantageous
  • Certificate III in Network Operations or Horticulture is a plus

Employment Details and Benefits

  • Permanent full-time role with a 38-hour week structured as a 4-day work week
  • Gross weekly salary ranging from $1,202 to $1,351, dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications, plus a 12% superannuation contribution
