Your Impact
You will collaborate closely with client service teams to address complex challenges through detailed analysis and insightful recommendations. Leveraging your mining sector expertise, you will aid strategic decisions and enhance operational productivity at mining sites by pinpointing improvement opportunities using diagnostics and performance benchmarks.
Your responsibilities will include gathering data, performing quantitative analyses, and integrating findings with on-site assessments to formulate benchmark-backed advice. You will contribute to the MineLens platform’s analytical innovations, supporting consulting teams and clients both remotely and on-site, occasionally involving international travel for extended periods (typically 4–8 weeks or more).
Additionally, you will aid in enriching internal knowledge resources and assist with creating new tools and solutions to broaden MineLens’ impact within McKinsey’s Global Energy & Materials practice.

Qualifications and Skills
- A Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- At least 3 years of professional experience within the mining industry, covering open-pit or underground mining operations or mineral processing.
- Deep understanding of mining sector dynamics.
- A strong enthusiasm for analytics and a desire to develop innovative methods for mining data analysis and operational enhancement.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, comfortable using Excel, PowerPoint, specialized mining software, and advanced analytics tools.
- Experience applying Generative AI (GenAI) tools to improve analysis or decision-making is advantageous.
- Proven ability to lead client engagements independently and communicate complex value propositions effectively at executive levels.
- Preparedness to work in a demanding, goal-oriented team setting, including travel to remote mining sites as needed.
- Fluent verbal and written English skills; knowledge of additional languages considered a benefit.
