Founded in 2019, Olive & Fig offers a luxurious grazing experience in the Greater Toronto Area through unique tables, platters, and boxes. As the first e-commerce charcuterie delivery service in the GTA, the company has gained recognition for its exceptional product quality and stylish presentation, serving notable clients such as Pinterest, Fable, Shopify, Canadian Tire, Bell Canada, Mejuri, and Google.
Work Schedule
Operating days are from Tuesday to Saturday, with working hours generally from 7AM to 4PM, though these hours may vary depending on demand.
Role Description
The Kitchen Staff member will be responsible for preparing visually appealing and delicious charcuterie and catering displays by assembling an array of cheeses, meats, fruits, and other accompaniments. Creativity and attention to detail are crucial in crafting attractive grazing experiences. Additional duties include various kitchen support tasks that contribute to efficient kitchen operations. This role is expected to grow and evolve alongside the company's development.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain Olive & Fig's standards for food quality, presentation, and consistency across all preparation and production stages.
- Ensure kitchen processes run efficiently and comply with all Health & Safety and food hygiene regulations.
- Contribute ideas and suggestions to enhance kitchen performance.
- Assist with the organization, lifting, storage, and arrangement of food and inventory, including handling heavy items.
- Participate in off-site events as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of culinary education is advantageous.
- At least 2 years of experience in a comparable kitchen role.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and industry best practices.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and demonstrate leadership qualities.
- Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
- Capability to respond promptly and appropriately to urgent situations.
- Possession of a Food Handler Certification is preferred.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, bend, reach overhead, squat or stoop, and stand for extended durations.
Compensation
The hourly wage ranges from $20.00 to $25.00.
