Job Overview

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils invite applications for the position of Income Officer to join the Tenant Services team. This is a permanent full-time role offering 37 hours per week. The salary ranges from 37,280 to 4,075 annually (pro rated for part time). Applications for part-time and job-share will be considered equally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive advice on housing and welfare benefits tailored to individual customer needs, while adhering to council policies, legislation, and procedures.
  • Utilize enforcement powers when necessary to recover outstanding debts.
  • Collaborate closely with services, teams, and external partners to optimize income to the Housing Revenue Account ensuring tenants receive suitable advice and support to maintain their tenancies.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess a relevant qualification at NVQ4, HNC, degree level, or equivalent experience in housing or related fields.
  • Experience managing debt cases and tenancy enforcement within a housing context, including court preparation and representation.
  • Ability to offer empathetic advice and support to individuals experiencing personal challenges.
  • Demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills.
