Job description

Overview

Aldar Education is seeking a dedicated UAE National Inclusion Assistant for Al Rayana Charter School in Abu Dhabi to join immediately. Al Rayana is a primary school following the American curriculum, committed to excellence and providing innovative learning experiences. The school fosters a collaborative, leadership-driven, and creative community aimed at nurturing students' potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support individual pupils or groups both inside and outside the classroom to ensure full participation across school activities.
  • Maintain proactive attention to health and safety matters.
  • Assist in executing individual education plans (IEPs), monitor student progress linked to their goals.
  • Support students with additional needs, addressing academic, physical, emotional, and behavioral challenges to enhance their social and communication skills.
  • Help teachers maintain accurate pupil records.
  • Prepare educational resources tailored to support curriculum accessibility and differentiation.
  • Encourage student independence by teaching effective strategies.
  • Adhere to school policies, including health and safety, code of conduct, and relevant legislation.
  • Set high standards through punctuality, attendance, and appropriate dress.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional meetings.
  • Collaborate with external specialists such as speech and occupational therapists.
  • Foster close, transparent communication with teachers.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the principal or Head of Inclusion.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality, recognizing formal parent communications are managed by designated staff.
  • Provide academic support including individualized and group instruction as directed.
  • Demonstrate instructional activities and monitor student work, offering timely corrections and feedback.
  • Keep students focused and motivated by recognizing achievements and reporting progress to teachers.
  • Prepare necessary materials to support student learning and scaffold classroom activities.
  • Supervise students across classrooms, specialist lessons, and other areas.
  • Contribute to behaviour policy development, promote self-esteem, and support discipline aligned with school guidelines.
  • Assist in delivering therapies such as speech and language therapy (SaLT), occupational therapy (OT), and applied behaviour analysis (ABA) interventions to reinforce target skills.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, trips, and visits.
  • Experienced assistants may mentor new staff, with opportunities for reciprocal mentoring.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of a diploma-level qualification in Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • At least two years of experience working within SEN settings.
