About the Organization

The New York Islanders Hockey Club is a legendary professional sports franchise with one of the most dedicated fan bases in the game. Its history includes four consecutive Stanley Cup championships in the 1980s and 19 straight playoff series victories, and that tradition continues to shape the club’s identity across sports, entertainment, and culture.

The team now plays at UBS Arena, its permanent home since 2021. This modern arena was designed for hockey and music, and it sits within Belmont Park, a historic New York destination. The venue offers premium suites, clubs, lounges, and hospitality features designed to improve the guest experience. The wider Belmont Park redevelopment will also bring Belmont Park Village in 2024 and a new Belmont Park Racetrack in 2026.

Role Overview

The New York Islanders are recruiting part-time Ice Crew members to support home games and selected events during the 2026–2027 season. The role reports to the Entertainment & Production Specialist and is best suited to confident skaters who are energetic, reliable, and comfortable working in a high-paced arena environment.

Ice Crew members will skate during games and events, assist with ice maintenance during TV timeouts, support fan activations during intermissions, and handle other duties as needed. All candidates must attend the Ice Crew tryouts on August 25, 2026 to be considered.

Tryout Details

Venue: Northwell Health Ice Center

Date: Tuesday, August 25, 2026

Time: 6:00–8:00 p.m.

Check-in: Arrive by 5:30 p.m.

What the Role Involves

• Being present for all New York Islanders home games and any additional events requested.
• Skating confidently alongside teammates in a live arena setting.
• Working effectively in a busy, demanding environment where tasks may change quickly.
• Responding promptly and adapting to spontaneous situations when needed.
• Following all New York Islanders and NHL rules, including wearing the required attire while in the arena.
• Performing ice-related tasks such as shoveling during television timeouts and helping with fan engagement during intermissions.

Candidate Profile

• Excellent skating ability is essential; hockey knowledge or experience is an added advantage.
• Availability for nights, weekends, and other flexible hours is required.
• The ability to move quickly and remain active for extended periods is important.
• Familiarity with the New York Islanders and Long Island is preferred.
• Understanding of NHL rules and standards is needed.
• A strong sense of responsibility and personal integrity is expected.
• Applicants must be able to attend all home games and may be assigned additional team events by management.
• Game nights and special events may take place on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
