About the Role and Employer

The Southern NSW Local Health District seeks a dedicated Health and Security Assistant based in Moruya. This permanent full-time position offers a salary of $68,858 per annum for 38 hours per week. The appointed professional will contribute to preserving a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors within our rural healthcare setting.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will assist clinical staff by performing general ward duties, transporting patients within the facility, undertaking cleaning tasks, and fulfilling security responsibilities as required. This role emphasizes person-centred care and supports the well-being of our diverse community.

Requirements and Eligibility

  • Current NSW Security Licence (Class 1A minimum) and the ability to maintain this licence, plus a Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) First Aid Certificate; or a commitment to obtain both within the first 3 months of hire
  • Understanding of and commitment to providing person-centred care in a healthcare environment
  • Experience in effective communication with diverse populations, demonstrating respectful and approachable behaviour
  • Physical capability to perform tasks such as patient lifting and transfers
  • Proven skills in conflict resolution and managing aggressive behaviours
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, alongside flexibility to work a 24/7 rotating roster
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, the Security Industry Act, and the ability to follow detailed instructions, policies, and duty lists
  • Current, unrestricted driver’s licence and willingness to travel, potentially including long distances and overnight stays
