Role Overview

As Aampere's inaugural Head of Engineering, you will serve as the top technical leader, translating the product vision into a scalable, operational reality. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer & Co-Founder, you will take charge of the engineering team's technical direction, architecture, and delivery processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical leadership and hands-on coding, guiding architecture, scalability, and performance decisions.
• Manage and expand the engineering team from 5 to around 10 members, designing organizational structure and hiring effectively.
• Establish disciplined, reliable delivery processes to ensure fast yet stable product releases.
• Attract and retain top-tier engineering talent by communicating the mission and culture compellingly and supporting new hires.
• Balance technical decisions with business needs, considering both growth impact and code quality.
• Collaborate across teams and stakeholders to align technical and product strategies.

Candidate Profile

• Proven senior leadership in backend systems, architecture, and DevOps, including managing teams of 5 or more engineers.
• Innovative use of AI as an integral part of software development, pushing boundaries and embedding AI-driven workflows.
• Strong project management skills, able to convert ambiguity into clear, actionable plans and meet deadlines consistently.
• Experience building and scaling engineering organizations, not just managing existing teams.
• Track record in startups or growth-stage companies, shipping products under resource constraints with rigorous prioritization.
• Deep understanding of business and product goals, linking features directly to customer satisfaction and revenue impact.
• Fluent in German and English to collaborate with German-speaking partners and an English-speaking team.
• Location: Based in Munich with onsite presence required at least four days a week.
