Job description

About Kwetta and the Role

Kwetta is focused on accelerating electrification by optimizing the use of existing high-voltage grid infrastructure. This role is pivotal in addressing the complexities of grid constraints and turning these challenges into actionable solutions that enable faster adoption of electric technologies.

Role Overview

As a Grid and Solutions Specialist, you will analyze electrical grid limitations, model power systems, design site layouts, and assess network connections and charging demands. Collaborating with customers, electricity networks, and internal teams, you will translate intricate grid challenges into feasible, technical solutions supporting electrification efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate real customer sites by understanding charging demands, performing load modeling, and investigating network constraints and tariffs.
  • Explore options involving energy storage and grid services to determine optimal solutions.
  • Assist customers and network providers (EDBs and DNSPs) in navigating grid connections and streamline application processes.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Research & Development, Engineering, and Grid teams to resolve cross-disciplinary technical questions.
  • Develop improved tools, models, network playbooks, and processes that enhance project delivery and scalability.

Candidate Profile

  • A degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, power systems, or a related area.
  • Practical knowledge in electrical infrastructure, energy utilities, distributed energy resources, or EV charging sectors.
  • Thorough understanding of high and low voltage systems, power distribution, load profiling, grid connections, and integration challenges.
  • Hands-on experience in grid analysis and modeling; capable of interpreting technical network data, financial results, and tariffs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust, unite diverse stakeholders, and simplify complex technical information.
  • Curious and pragmatic problem solver, comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving projects forward independently.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive annual salary range between NZD 100,000 and 140,000, based on experience.
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) offering equity participation in company growth.
  • Comprehensive Southern Cross health insurance coverage including you and your immediate family.
  • Opportunity to address meaningful and challenging technical problems in electrification.
  • Work with a talented, collaborative, and accessible team fostering a low-ego culture.
  • Autonomy and ownership in decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with projects across New Zealand, Australia, and Europe while enjoying lifestyle benefits of Hawke's Bay.
  • Flexible work arrangements and support for both personal and professional development.
