About The Role

This project is central to achieving Teesside’s goal as the UK’s first decarbonised industrial hub.

We are looking for a versatile General Operative - Escort Driver to support the Net Zero Teesside project at our Redcar and Cleveland location.

Role Purpose

This role requires safely guiding and coordinating vehicle movements across the site in line with logistics and security protocols, ensuring strict adherence to traffic management plans. When not escorting vehicles, the individual will undertake general operative responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Escort delivery vehicles and visitors safely throughout the site following established procedures.
• Ensure compliance with designated routes, speed regulations, and access limitations.
• Serve as the primary contact for drivers arriving and navigating the site premises.
• Collaborate with logistics teams, gate personnel, and traffic marshals to orchestrate smooth site movements.
• Perform vehicle inspections prior to operation and maintain safety standards.
• Identify and report safety concerns, incidents, or violations of site policies promptly.
• Assist with everyday site operations including construction, mechanical, and electrical tasks as required.
• Help with material handling, unloading, and relocating goods within the site.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping across work areas.
• Support activities related to logistics, storage, and laydown areas.
• Carry out manual handling in accordance with training guidelines.
• Adhere to all site procedures, permits, and method statements.

Who We Are Looking For

• Holders of valid UK Driving Licence.
• Possession of CSCS Card or an equivalent site access credential.
• Experience in construction, logistics, or other site-based roles.
• Sound knowledge of site safety and traffic management procedures.
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

• Certifications such as Traffic Marshal or Vehicle Banksman.
• Experience working on sizeable infrastructure or energy projects.
• Understanding of site logistics and access control processes.
• Manual handling certification.
