Fruit Packer - Farm

Overview

Algoma Orchards Corp is hiring for a fruit packing role at its farm operation in Canada. The work is performed entirely on location; remote work is not available.

Language

English is required for this position.

Education

No degree, certificate, or diploma is needed.

Experience

Prior experience is an advantage, but it is not mandatory.

Asset Language

Spanish is considered an asset.

Work Site Environment

This role is based in fruit and vegetable combination farming and involves working outdoors in wet or damp conditions, with exposure to odours, dust, heat, cold/refrigerated areas, and dirty surroundings.

Work Setting

The job is located in a rural area.

Responsibilities

• Classify fruits and vegetables by size, shape, colour, and volume to help achieve better market value.
• Pack produce carefully for distribution.
• Sort fruits and vegetables according to required standards.
• Keep the work area clean and orderly.
• Use and look after farm machinery and equipment.
• Inspect produce to confirm quality and market readiness.
• Handle files and paperwork as needed.
• Train workers on job tasks, safety practices, and company procedures.

The crop involved in this role is apples.

Additional Information

Transportation / Travel

Public transportation is not available to the work site.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

The position requires the ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment with repetitive tasks, tight deadlines, and physically demanding duties. Candidates should have good hand-eye coordination, be able to tell colours apart, pay close attention to detail, and remain standing for long periods.

Weight Handling

The work may involve lifting and handling items weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs).

Own Tools / Equipment

Steel-toed safety boots are required.
