Overview

The Fraud Analyst plays a critical role in examining and investigating potential fraudulent activities affecting our credit union partners. Utilizing multiple monitoring platforms and reports, this position identifies suspicious behaviors or transactions and conducts thorough research to confirm fraud and prevent losses. Providing outstanding customer support and fostering strong relationships with members and credit unions is key.

Core Responsibilities

Monitor and analyze alerts and communications from various sources to detect suspicious activities.
Take protective actions to minimize further losses to members and credit unions arising from fraud incidents.
Maintain detailed documentation of all fraud cases through notes, emails, spreadsheets, and case management systems.
Investigate complex fraud scenarios to uncover fraudulent schemes.
Guide and support Associate Fraud Analysts during investigations when required.

Additional Duties

Report suspicious activities or cases potentially requiring a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) to the BSA Department.
Collaborate closely with internal teams, partners, and law enforcement agencies during investigations.
Maintain thorough knowledge of credit union products, services, and advanced fraud detection techniques.
Document standard workflows and job procedures to improve operational efficiency.
Identify emerging fraud trends or vulnerabilities and alert management promptly.
Undertake other projects and responsibilities as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications and Skills

Preferably hold an Associate degree in a relevant discipline.
Minimum of 2 years experience investigating fraud within financial institutions is highly advantageous.
Uphold confidentiality and data security standards at all times.
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Capable of working effectively both independently and as a collaborative team member.
Provide excellent customer service and prioritize tasks aligned with member and organizational needs.
