About Partners Life

Backed by Daiichi Life Group—an international leader in insurance—we are embarking on a new phase marked by growth and innovation. We are committed to challenging traditional industry norms and enhancing standards through innovation and tailored advisory services.

Opportunity Overview

We are searching for an expert Financial Reporting Manager to become a key member of our Finance Department. Reporting directly to the General Manager of Financial Control & Reporting, this role requires managing the accurate and timely preparation of statutory, regulatory, and group financial reports. You will spearhead technical accounting leadership, ensure solid financial governance, and support critical reporting within a stringent regulatory framework.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end preparation and delivery of statutory, regulatory, and group financial reports, handling interim and year-end cycles.
  • Interpret and apply complex accounting standards such as IFRS 17, furnishing technical accounting guidance and training throughout the organisation.
  • Manage regulatory and external reporting obligations, including submissions to the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) and Daiichi Life Group.
  • Contribute to the development and reporting of Climate-Related Disclosures and adapt to upcoming regulatory frameworks in this domain.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a small, top-performing team of Financial Accountants.
  • Champion ongoing improvement initiatives, automation projects, and enhancements in reporting workflows and systems.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate possesses deep technical accounting expertise within complex and highly regulated environments. You demonstrate sound judgment, take accountability seriously, and have a proven track record delivering precise and critical financial reporting outcomes.

You can distill complex accounting principles into accessible insights for non-specialist stakeholders, emphasizing both the rationale and outcomes behind the numbers. You exhibit hands-on leadership, cultivate a collaborative, high-performing team culture, and build effective cross-functional relationships to support informed decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) credential or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in technical accounting or regulatory/statutory financial reporting.
  • Experience within the insurance sector is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people development skills.
  • Expertise in IFRS and IAS standards, with preferred knowledge of IFRS 17 or IFRS 15.
  • Ability to clearly communicate intricate accounting topics and key financial metrics to non-technical audiences.
  • A hands-on, deadline-oriented work style accompanied by meticulous attention to detail.

Employee Benefits

  • Comprehensive training programs and continuous support.
  • Clear pathways for professional growth and career advancement.
  • Eligibility to participate in a discretionary bonus scheme after one year of service.
  • Company-covered life insurance and income protection, plus partially subsidized medical insurance (applicable to permanent staff).
  • Additional leave benefits including birthday and long service leave.
  • Supportive parental benefits including maternity leave top-up, reduced work hours options, and secondary parental leave.
  • Flexible hybrid work arrangements balancing onsite presence and remote flexibility.
  • Work in modern facilities offering impressive views, centrally located in Takapuna.
