Financial Controller, APAC

Overview

BTIG is looking for a driven and skilled professional to join its APAC Finance team as a Financial Controller. This leadership role involves managing end-to-end financial processes across the Asia-Pacific region, with a concentration on Hong Kong and Singapore operations. The successful candidate will apply prior knowledge gained from working with broker dealers to enhance processes and enforce best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the main escalation contact within the finance team for Hong Kong and Singapore, guiding junior colleagues.
• Oversee revenue processes throughout APAC, including clearing broker revenue bookings and broker rebate reconciliation.
• Handle accounts receivable functions such as invoicing, collections, reporting, and engaging with clients and brokers.
• Manage booking and reconciliation activities for clearing account cash balances.
• Execute month-end consolidation tasks, including equity pick-up and eliminations.
• Assist in the calculation of management fees and transfer pricing assessments.
• Perform routine month-end closing, financial reporting, and account reconciliation duties.
• Prepare and review regulatory reports for Hong Kong and Singapore jurisdictions.
• Coordinate APAC regional audits and the preparation of financial statements.
• Review and supervise accounts payable processes including payment and wire transfers.
• Support business units such as sales, operations, and compliance through collaborative engagement.
• Identify opportunities for process enhancements and drive the adoption of best practices.
• Enforce adequate control measures and maintain comprehensive documentation.
• Contribute to projects, change management initiatives, and additional ad hoc assignments as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent; professional certifications like ACCA or CPA are strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience working within broker dealer finance roles, especially related to equities trading.
• Practical and detail-oriented approach with the ability to engage hands-on when needed.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience with automation tools is an advantage.
• Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong multitasking capabilities with effective priority management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Collaborative mindset with enthusiasm for continuous improvement and transformation.
• Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure, fast-moving settings.
