Field Leadership Trainer

Position summary

Comfort Systems USA is looking for a field-savvy leadership trainer who can deliver high-impact development experiences for the people who build, wire, and run the company’s operations. The ideal person will understand construction culture, connect naturally with foremen, team leads, supervisors, field managers, and operations leaders, and bring leadership concepts to life in a way that feels practical and credible on the jobsite.

This position exists because frontline leaders strongly influence safety, productivity, quality, and employee engagement. In this role, you will help field employees build the confidence, mindset, and habits needed to lead teams well and work safely. The training content is already created; your job is to deliver it effectively where the work happens and reinforce the company’s focus on people development and career progression.

Comfort Systems USA is especially interested in someone whose background gives them real credibility with field crews. Experience in commercial construction, industrial construction, mechanical contracting, electrical construction, manufacturing, or the skilled trades will help you earn trust quickly. Success will be measured by whether participants remember the message, feel motivated, and apply what they learned consistently in the field.

Key responsibilities

• Lead ready-made leadership development programs for foremen, supervisors, team leads, field managers, and operations leaders.
• Run training sessions that focus on leadership, safety, productivity, quality, communication, and employee growth.
• Turn leadership ideas into practical, jobsite-relevant discussions that field professionals can easily relate to.
• Encourage employees to view themselves as future leaders while supporting the company’s commitment to career development.
• Act as a genuine representative of Comfort Systems USA’s core values with humility, integrity, and authenticity.
• Use Dale Carnegie-style or similar leadership development approaches when appropriate.
• Work with Learning & Development partners and subject matter experts to improve learner engagement and program impact.
• Adjust facilitation style based on the audience and group dynamics to drive participation and accountability.
• Travel nationwide to operating companies to deliver multi-day leadership sessions.
• Build toward greater independent facilitation responsibility as the program expands.

• Experience in construction, mechanical contracting, electrical construction, manufacturing, industrial services, or another skilled trades setting.
• Comfort working with a wide range of field audiences, from apprentices to seasoned operations leaders.

• Able to facilitate leadership development even when you are not the technical expert in every topic.

A day in the role

• Deliver leadership development sessions to frontline supervisors, foremen, team leads, and operations managers.
• Travel to operating companies for multi-day training assignments.
• Coordinate with Learning & Development leaders and subject matter experts to prepare sessions.
• Coach field leaders through discussion, reflection, and practical application.
• Collect feedback and improve future training delivery.
• Observe field operations and share insights that can strengthen leadership programming.

Qualifications and experience

• Background in construction, mechanical contracting, electrical construction, industrial construction, manufacturing, or another skilled trades environment.
• Proven experience delivering training, coaching, or leadership development to frontline or field-based employees.
• Ability to connect effectively with craft professionals, field supervisors, and operations leaders.
• Experience supporting workforce development in large organizations with multiple locations.
• Familiarity with Dale Carnegie or a comparable leadership development approach is preferred.
• Strong presentation, facilitation, communication, and organization skills.
• Good interpersonal judgment and the ability to manage complex group interactions.
• Bilingual English and Spanish is an added advantage.

Work arrangement and travel

This is a remote role for candidates based in the United States, with a preference for someone located near a major airport. Travel is expected for about 80 to 100 days each year, usually in 3 to 4 day training engagements at operating companies across the Comfort Systems USA network.
