Backed by leading tier-1 investors, Halter aims to make a significant impact on global agriculture through cutting-edge hardware solutions.

Role Overview

Mechanical engineering at Halter is entering an exciting growth phase following the launch of our latest collar device. We are preparing to scale manufacturing significantly to meet global demand. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on a challenging and impactful product within a fast-growing startup environment, committed to sustainable agriculture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership and accountability for delivering high-quality mechanical hardware aligned with Halter's mission.
  • Rapidly develop and iterate on electro-mechanical products through to production, ensuring durability and functionality.
  • Spend time with end users such as farmers and animals to inform ergonomic and practical design choices.
  • Collaborate closely with external suppliers to optimize design and manufacturing processes, including onsite visits to manufacturers in China and Thailand (~10% travel).
  • Contribute actively to a high-performance, agile team culture, embracing a startup mentality where flexibility and initiative are valued.

Desired Expertise

  • Designing highly reliable devices with experience in robust product development in sectors such as automotive, agriculture, or military.
  • Proven skills in verification and validation through designing, executing, and documenting comprehensive tests, and validating production for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Knowledge and experience with injection molding processes, including setting up contract manufacturing and tool commissioning.
  • Strong capability in Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA), optimizing parts and assemblies for easy production and assembly.

Benefits & Culture

  • Access to delicious snacks and drinks to support day-to-day work.
  • Health insurance partnership with Southern Cross to support physical and mental well-being.
  • Parental benefits including 6 months fully paid primary caregiver leave and 4 weeks fully paid secondary caregiver leave.
  • An annual self-development budget of $1000 to encourage personal and professional growth.
  • Wellness leave and unlimited paid annual leave to ensure time for rest and recovery.
  • An attractive remuneration package with salary, benefits, and an employee stock ownership plan.
  • An office-first culture emphasizing in-person collaboration, team growth, and relationship building, with flexibility as needed.
