About the Role
S And S Speciality Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., located in Vapi, Gujarat, is seeking a dedicated Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Officer to join its Vapi Plant division. This role reports directly to the Manager of EHS or the Plant Manager and involves managing various safety, health, and environmental protocols within the chemical manufacturing and oil processing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to company EHS policies, procedures, and statutory regulations.
- Carry out regular safety inspections to detect and rectify unsafe conditions.
- Assist with hazard identification and risk evaluations.
- Oversee proper usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) by employees and contractors.
- Keep detailed records, reports, permits, and related documentation regarding EHS compliance.
- Support investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses, ensuring follow-up with corrective and preventative measures.
- Help conduct safety inductions and toolbox meetings for workers.
- Monitor environmental practices including waste disposal and pollution control.
- Conduct checks on fire extinguishers, emergency equipment, and safety systems.
- Organize emergency drills and coordinate evacuation responses.
- Ensure that safety signage and emergency gear are properly maintained and visible.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and other departments to address safety concerns.
- Report any safety deviations or hazardous situations to supervisors.
- Provide support for compliance during both internal and external safety audits.
- Promote awareness of safe working habits and safety culture among all employees.
- Perform other EHS-related duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Chemistry, or related disciplines.
- Experience of 5 to 10 years in relevant industries such as chemical manufacturing or oil processing.
- Age range preferred: 25 to 32 years.
- Strong knowledge of factory safety regulations, EHS laws, and standards.
- Basic understanding of chemical handling and hazardous materials management.
- Familiarity with fire safety equipment and hazard control procedures.
- Competence in risk assessments and incident documentation.
- Proficiency in maintaining records and preparing reports.
- Preferred familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Effective communication and coordination abilities.
- Experience with workplace inspections and safety audits.
- Basic computer skills, including MS Office suite.
- Team-oriented with a strong safety focus and proactive attitude.
