Overview
An opportunity exists for an Environmental Coordinator on a multi-year contract to support a major new gold mining project in British Columbia, Canada. This role entails coordinating environmental permitting and compliance activities throughout the mine's construction phase and into operations, collaborating with environmental professionals, contractors, and project management to maintain adherence to regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide vital research, coordination, and administrative support to the Environmental Permitting & Compliance team.
- Manage and track environmental permits, approvals, commitments, and regulatory obligations related to the mine development project.
- Acquire and maintain a comprehensive understanding of environmental permits and regulatory conditions to assist construction and operations teams.
- Respond to queries concerning environmental approvals, government commitments, and compliance requirements.
- Support documentation, reporting, and compliance monitoring throughout the construction phase.
- Collaborate with environmental coordinators, consultants, technical experts, and project stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate environmental records and assist with compliance tracking systems.
- Gain proficiency with environmental permitting and compliance databases and information management tools.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts surrounding environmental procedures, documentation, and regulatory readiness.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrable experience in environmental programs, permitting, or compliance within mining, industrial, infrastructure, or construction sectors.
- Prior exposure to mine development projects, construction, or operational start-ups is advantageous.
- Strong familiarity with environmental permitting processes, regulatory approvals, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience handling environmental documentation, regulatory submissions, and compliance records.
- Excellent research and administrative skills capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Ability to interpret and summarize complex technical and regulatory information accurately.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to precise documentation.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to operate well within multidisciplinary project groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of environmental databases or compliance tracking software.
- Mining industry experience is highly valued.
Work Conditions
The position offers a flexible work arrangement with a principal work location to be mutually agreed upon. Remote work is possible, with periodic travel to the mining site in British Columbia as necessary. The standard workweek consists of 40 hours, with additional hours as needed during critical project phases or site visits.
