Role Overview

The Engineering Design Draftsperson Trainee position is a full-time onsite role based in Toowoomba. The trainee will assist senior engineers and designers by preparing engineering and architectural drawings connected to civil, structural, and hydraulic projects. Typical duties involve generating and revising technical drawings using CAD software under supervision, maintaining project documentation, and ensuring conformity with applicable standards and specifications. The trainee will work collaboratively within project teams and gradually learn to interpret survey information and design directives. Ongoing mentorship will help develop proficiency in drafting techniques and understanding engineering design procedures.

Key Qualifications and Attributes

• Completion of Grade 12 studies recently.
• Capacity to produce clear, precise technical and general drawings.
• Basic expertise or interest in preparing civil and structural engineering drawings.
• Fundamental knowledge of CAD tools with eagerness to master advanced functions.
• Strong detail orientation, spatial reasoning, and ability to adhere to design standards and instructions.
• Effective communication skills and teamwork capability within an engineering setting.
• Relevant vocational training or coursework in drafting, engineering, or closely related disciplines is preferred.
• Positive learning mindset, openness to constructive feedback, and commitment to pursuing a career in engineering design.
