Currently, AECOM seeks a highly motivated biologist to join their Tampa, Florida team. This role offers the opportunity to apply academic knowledge into practice alongside skilled environmental professionals, focusing on biological and ecological systems relevant to Florida and the southeastern United States. The position supports projects including wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species surveys, NEPA documentation, and environmental permitting. Hybrid and remote working options are considered.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct tasks requiring expertise in wildlife ecology, botany, and ecosystem processes.
Perform both field surveys and office-based activities.
Produce well-written NEPA-related and other technical documentation.
Participate in biological surveys as part of a team, identifying terrestrial and coastal flora and fauna.
Utilize electronic tools for data collection and management.
Support writing assignments including natural community evaluations, environmental permits, botanical and wildlife survey reports, impact assessments, mitigation plans, and monitoring documentation.
Demonstrate familiarity with state and federal environmental agencies and regulatory frameworks such as FDEP, USACE, USFWS, NOAA Fisheries, NEPA, ESA, CWA, and CCA.
Work under the supervision of project managers or senior team members, adhering to schedules and budgets.
Exhibit flexibility to serve diverse functions as needed by the organization and clients.
Occasional travel may be part of the role.

Candidate Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, botany, or a related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver’s license and clearance through AECOM’s motor vehicle records check.
Experience with wetland environments.
US citizenship required.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with a problem-solving mindset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to maintain tracking tools.
Prior consulting experience advantageous but not essential.
Comfort interacting with clients and regulatory agencies.
Skill in managing fast-moving priorities by innovating to meet deadlines.
Experience conducting protocol wildlife surveys, rare plant surveys, and habitat assessments.
Expertise in environmental permitting and ecosystem assessments.
Capability in assessing biological impacts and restoration plans datawise.
Motivation to contribute to the growth of the Florida ecological practice within AECOM.
