Earth Science Intern Program

Program overview

This internship is a 12-week paid opportunity with Chevron in Perth, Australia. It is designed for students who want practical exposure to major oil and gas developments while building job-ready skills connected to their area of study. The program also includes learning and training aimed at strengthening professional capabilities in a workplace that is diverse, inclusive, supportive, and collaborative.

The position is based at Chevron’s new office building at One The Esplanade in Perth.

Role scope

As an Earth Science Intern, you will work with subsurface specialists such as geologists, geophysicists, and engineers on varied projects that help build your capability and create business impact. The role also offers cross-functional exposure so you can broaden your understanding of the business while contributing to results.

Eligibility and requirements

Candidates should be motivated university students studying geology, earth science, geophysics, physics, or a related discipline, either as a single stream or combined program. A strong interest in the oil and gas sector and in the lower-carbon energy transition is important.

To qualify for Chevron’s Intern Program, applicants must:

• Be legally entitled to live and work in Australia on a permanent basis.
• Be in their penultimate or final year of an undergraduate degree, or be a postgraduate student.
• Be available to work full-time, Monday to Friday, for the full program period from 23 November 2026 to 19 February 2027, with the week of 21 December off.
• Bring solid communication skills, strong analytical ability, and a collaborative mindset.
• Be aligned with Chevron’s values of diversity and inclusion, integrity and trust, high performance, partnership, and protecting people and the environment.

After the internship

Students who consistently exceed expectations during the 12-week program may be considered for full-time graduate roles if suitable vacancies are available.
