About Abingdon School
The Abingdon Foundation includes two schools: Abingdon School and Abingdon Prep School, together with Abingdon School Enterprises. Abingdon School is a prestigious independent day and boarding school with over 1,000 boys aged 11-18, transitioning to co-educational from September 2026. The Prep School, co-educational since recently, serves approximately 200 pupils aged 4-13 and is located a few miles from the senior school in Frilford. Both campuses are situated on extensive grounds near Oxford.
Role Overview
Abingdon School seeks enthusiastic, motivated, and dedicated Duty Managers to join the team overseeing sports and leisure facilities at Tilsley Park. Opportunities exist for full-time, part-time, evening, and weekend shifts. The role is dynamic and hands-on, requiring customer interaction and excellent communication skills, along with administrative competencies and proficient IT use.
Key Duties
- Safely open, prepare, and close the facility according to procedures and schedules.
- Provide outstanding customer service, professionally handle inquiries and complaints.
- Prepare venues and equipment for classes, community bookings, and events, including setup and takedown.
- Perform daily facility inspections to maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and safety.
- Manage payment processing via EPOS, oversee stock control, and conduct cash handling and reconciliation.
- Serve as a lifeguard or bar staff when required, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Manage health and safety protocols, including risk assessments, incident reporting, and mandatory training participation.
- Assist management with administrative responsibilities and booking system operations.
- Work collaboratively with reception, coaching, fitness, and maintenance staff.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in customer service or facility management relevant to the role.
- Desirable professional qualifications or experience in the sports or leisure sector.
- Positive, adaptable, and proactive mindset.
- Friendly yet professional demeanor delivering consistent excellent service.
- Good IT competence and administrative skills with attention to detail and sound written English.
- Willingness to apply for a Personal Licence to sell alcohol.
- Commitment to professional development through training and learning.
