Job description

Overview

The District Manager is entrusted with the objective of achieving or surpassing service targets by overseeing a district encompassing multiple routes. Reporting directly to the Service Manager, this role involves leadership, operational management, and customer relationship development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Motivate and develop a highly effective district team through ongoing training, regular communication, daily check-ins, and fostering a positive, collaborative environment.
  • Enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty by conducting visits, audits, handling new installations, addressing issues, maintaining open communication, and negotiating with clients.
  • Ensure strict adherence to company policies and procedures within the district, including safety standards and Service Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Drive retention and expansion by encouraging solicitation of new customers, upselling, cross-selling, and offering samples across all product lines to maintain a profitable mix; monitor competitors and manage promotions and contests.
  • Lead the district by communicating organizational changes, overseeing route management, projecting a professional image, and collaborating with other branch departments.
  • Perform general route duties as needed, safely operate delivery vehicles in compliance with all regulations and company policies.
  • Follow instructions given verbally or in writing and complete additional tasks assigned by supervisors.

  • Offer support and collaborate with other service personnel as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English; ability to comprehend and execute directions; effective time management; demonstrates teamwork.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record free from chargeable accidents or violations.
  • Strong customer service and route sales expertise; ability to lead a sales team, build business client relationships, and manage sales contract negotiations.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with close attention to detail and adherence to tight deadlines.
  • Proficient with inventory control and data analysis software as well as Windows-based computer systems.
  • Ability to accurately recognize product characteristics (colors, sizes, types) and perform numerical calculations including counting, addition, and subtraction.

Education and Credentials

  • Post-secondary education from college, CEGEP, or equivalent experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Travel Demands

  • Frequent travel within the branch region is expected, using either a personal vehicle or one provided by the employer; travel costs covered by employer.

Working Environment

  • Work takes place operating vehicles on public roads, inside and outside customer sites, and in loading areas of industrial laundry facilities, Service Centers, or depots.
  • Combination of indoor and outdoor work in typical industrial settings.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical activities include sitting, grasping, driving, stooping, moving equipment, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting up to 75 pounds, standing, walking, writing, speaking, and hearing.
