Role Overview

The Director of Building Services (Mechanical & Electrical) for the EMEA region will oversee and develop the team of HVAC, Utility, Electrical engineers, and other subject matter experts. This leadership role focuses on managing discipline-wide strategy, quality assurance, technical oversight, business development support, and staff growth across our offices in EMEA (UK and Ireland).

Key Responsibilities

• Set and implement strategic direction for the Building Services Engineering discipline.
• Ensure the quality, consistency, and timeliness of deliverables through QA/QC reviews and technical audits.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, project managers, and proposal teams to align resources with project goals, scope, and budgets.
• Manage resource allocation efficiently to meet project and operational requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement by leading Communities of Practice and defining technical standards and procedures.
• Support innovation initiatives including AI integration and digital transformation efforts.
• Maintain active engagement with industry bodies to stay abreast of best practices and promote professional development.
• Oversee recruitment, performance management, training, and development activities for the Building Services team.
• Coordinate inter-office collaboration, resource sharing, and outsourcing strategies.
• Contribute to business development through proposal support, client relationship management, and presentation delivery.
• Support project delivery ensuring compliance with cGMP, GAMP, and other pharmaceutical industry standards.
• Conduct risk assessments and participate in safety reviews such as SIL, LOPA, SWIFT, and HAZOP.
• Facilitate a smooth organizational transition addressing employee and management concerns.
• Promote and embody IPS's vision and values within the discipline and the wider organization.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven extensive experience in designing pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical facilities compliant with cGMP standards.
• Bachelor's degree with honors in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
• Demonstrated capability in preparing detailed design documentation including AF&IDs, P&IDs, Single Line Diagrams, BMS I/O, equipment schedules, specifications, and calculations.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
• Strong leadership qualities fostering collaboration, inclusiveness, and high team performance.
• Track record in leading organizational change and cultivating positive employee engagement.
• Strategic mindset with experience in performance, succession, and talent management.

Additional Details

This position reports to the Senior Director of Design (Facility) - EMEA and involves occasional travel to other IPS offices and client locations across the region. Interviews are conducted in-person or virtually via video.
