Employees work with modern navigation tools, clear operating procedures, and regular training, within a respectful and inclusive team culture.
Role summary
This full-time, on-site pilot position is based in Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany. Candidate profile
Applicants should have strong inland waterway navigation experience, including familiarity with Danube-specific conditions, traffic rules, and navigational hazards. A valid pilotage or inland maritime licence is required, along with current safety, first aid, and emergency response certifications. The role calls for experience with electronic charts, radar, AIS, communications systems, and traditional navigational instruments, plus a strong grasp of inland shipping rules, environmental requirements, and workplace safety standards.
Good English and German communication skills are needed, and additional Central or Eastern European languages would be an advantage. The pilot must be able to make sound decisions in changing river and weather conditions, stay alert to risk, and work calmly under pressure. A cooperative attitude is important, including the ability to work respectfully with diverse crews and mentor less experienced colleagues. Physical fitness for shipboard work is essential, along with readiness for irregular schedules, shifts, weekends, and holidays. Familiarity with the ports and infrastructure around Regensburg and along the Danube corridor is beneficial.
