Copywriter

About the Role

We are seeking a concept-driven, strategically oriented midlevel copywriter to join our creative team at THIS JANUARY. This role involves developing compelling ideas and executing them across a variety of brands, including retail, airlines, and consumer packaged goods. Your daily tasks will span campaign concept territories, film and video scripts, social media copy, and more.

Responsibilities

• Develop creative concepts for campaign platforms, brand stories, and ideas across multiple channels and mediums.
• Write scripts tailored for film productions, online video, social platforms, and radio broadcasts.
• Create copy for out-of-home (OOH) advertisements, digital media, social content, and experiential marketing.
• Contribute to shaping consistent brand voices and messaging frameworks across varied channels.
• Produce presentations that clearly and persuasively communicate creative concepts.
• Collaborate closely with strategy, design, and account teams to enhance creative briefs and champion ideas.
• Mentor junior writers and uphold high standards within the agency's creative output.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of copywriting experience in an agency environment, preferably between 2 and 7 years.
• A diverse portfolio featuring major brand platform concepts and tactical executions such as OOH, TV commercials, and social content.
• Ability to analyze briefs, identify the core challenge, and generate original concept territories.
• Versatility in writing styles, including manifestos, subject lines, call-to-actions, and TikTok scripts.
• Confidence in presenting creative work in-person, virtually, and via decks with persuasive communication.
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with design, strategy, and account teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously while thriving in a small team culture.
• Bonus: Experience mentoring junior writers and an interest or aptitude in strategic thinking.

About Our Team and Culture

Join a lively and fun team of about 20 people in a dog-friendly office located in the 14th Street/Logan Circle area. Our working schedule includes in-office days on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with remote work on Wednesday and Friday. We offer standard benefits including healthcare and vacation time. Unique to our culture, the office closes for three weeks annually to ensure all team members enjoy an extended break.
