About the Role

PRMG is looking for an experienced mortgage underwriter to join its team. This position supports remote work from anywhere in the United States and is part of a stable, long-tenured organization that emphasizes balance, collaboration, and professional growth. Underwriting is organized through a pod-based structure designed to create a supportive environment for strong performance.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is USD 75,000 to USD 85,000 per year.

Responsibilities

• Review loan files thoroughly to confirm they meet company and investor requirements.
• Evaluate the full credit package and collateral for residential mortgage loans to ensure the loan meets investment-quality standards.
• Verify the accuracy of calculations and the integrity of all data used in underwriting.
• Complete required underwriting worksheets from the Fast Trac 360 Resource Center.
• Support onboarding and training for newly hired underwriters.
• Escalate loan decisions to the underwriting manager when amounts exceed personal authority limits.
• Work to meet the company’s expected turnaround standards of 48 hours for underwriting decisions and 24 hours for clearing conditions.
• Aim to deliver three underwriting decisions per day within assigned timeframes.
• Communicate underwriting decisions clearly to the relevant parties in both spoken and written form.
• Keep underwriting activity logs current and submit a monthly report to the underwriting manager.
• Serve as a resource for processors and correspondents who need guideline clarification or help on specific files.
• Respond promptly to post-closing reviews and audit requests.
• Carry out additional duties assigned by the Underwriter or Operations Manager.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of mortgage underwriting experience with a strong understanding of underwriting guidelines.
• Experience working with private investor and private mortgage insurance guidelines.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
• Well-developed analytical skills, along with strong written and verbal communication.
• Comfortable using technology and underwriting-related tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Must be able to work remotely from within the United States.
