Position Overview

This role, based in Darwin, involves overseeing procurement and contract management for the Darwin Civic Centre Project. As Contracts Manager, you will ensure that contractual commitments are upheld, financial risks are minimized, and procurement plans are aligned with project goals. Collaborating with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and stakeholders, you will lead negotiations, contract execution, and administration while supporting cost control, regulatory compliance, and successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the entire contract lifecycle from tendering to contract award, execution, and closeout.
• Advise on contract terms, variations, claims management, and compliance requirements.
• Manage administration of head contracts and subcontracts, ensuring fulfillment of contractual obligations.
• Develop and implement contract management systems to track deliverables, compliance, and project progress.
• Formulate and apply procurement strategies aligned with project budgets, timelines, and objectives.
• Oversee subcontractor procurement, including tender preparation, evaluation, negotiation, and contract award.
• Conduct cost control by reviewing forecasts, cost plans, budget reports, and commercial performance data.
• Handle variations, progress claims, final accounts, and related contractual documentation.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with contracts, commercial factors, and subcontractors.
• Lead negotiation and resolution of contractual disputes in coordination with relevant parties.
• Prepare and assess commercial reports, procurement updates, and project performance metrics.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support delivery, quality, cost control, and compliance.
• Monitor project results against milestones, deliverables, and financial targets.
• Foster positive working relationships with project teams, suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Promote accountability, professionalism, teamwork, continuous improvement, and adherence to the company’s Code of Conduct.

Candidate Profile

• Degree or qualification in Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of senior contracts management experience within the construction industry.
• Strong skills in contract negotiation, administration, procurement, risk management, and cost control.
• Proven ability to handle commercial risks, disputes, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities with success in delivering significant projects.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective stakeholder management with the aptitude to build productive relationships.
• Proficiency using JobPac, Microsoft Office, and other project management software.
• Exceptional organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
