Role Overview
The Platform Engineer role involves the engineering, automation, operational support, and ongoing enhancement of essential platform services. Collaborating within an engineering team, you will facilitate highly available and secure platforms that underpin application deployment, integration, observability, and operational excellence.
Your responsibilities encompass the entire platform lifecycle including architecture design, deployment automation, system maintenance, capacity planning, security enhancement, troubleshooting, disaster recovery, and continuous improvement.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive administration experience with Linux-based systems and platforms.
- Proficient in deploying and managing Kubernetes and/or OpenShift environments.
- Well-versed in networking principles and concepts.
- Experienced with databases and storage technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, or object storage systems.
- Strong knowledge of high availability configurations, resilience strategies, clustering, disaster recovery, and failover mechanisms.
- Advanced scripting and automation skills using Bash, Python, PowerShell, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
- Familiarity with GitOps approaches and contemporary platform delivery methodologies.
- Expertise in platform security including identity management and access control.
- Understanding of authentication and federation protocols such as LDAP, Active Directory, SAML, and OIDC.
- Competence in monitoring, observability, alerting, and overall platform health management.
- Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and problem resolution as well as effective stakeholder engagement.
- Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or CloudBees.
- Proficiency in DevOps tools including Bitbucket, Jira, SonarQube.
- Use of observability solutions such as Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.
- Experience operating in rigorously regulated enterprise settings.
- Exposure to cloud computing platforms and container technologies.
