About the organisation
Places for People Group is a social enterprise focused on building homes and providing services that help communities flourish. Through Places Leisure, the organisation aims to improve lives by creating active spaces and supporting healthier, more vibrant communities. The company also places strong emphasis on valuing and supporting its people, treating employees as contributors to a shared purpose rather than as numbers.
Role overview
In this position, you will work on your own to deliver a reliable cleaning service across the designated areas assigned to you. You will be expected to follow all health and safety requirements, as well as the organisation’s policies and procedures, while using cleaning chemicals and other substances accurately and safely in the correct ratios.
At the end of each shift, you will need to clean and store all equipment securely so it is ready for the next colleague. You will also be responsible for raising any issues or incidents that occur, sharing them with the appropriate team, and taking suitable action when needed.
What we are looking for
This role requires a solid background in cleaning, along with practical knowledge of COSHH rules for the safe handling and use of chemicals in public settings. Because the work is carried out independently, you should be well organised and able to manage and prioritise your own workload effectively. As a representative of Places Leisure, you must maintain a professional and approachable manner at all times.
Benefits
- 2% bonus scheme available to all colleagues
- Full Health & Fitness membership for you, one nominated adult, and up to four juniors
- Flexible working options, including part-time schedules and shift-based work
- Option to buy extra annual leave
- Access to ongoing learning and development opportunities
- Company pension plan
- Cashback support for healthcare costs, with potential savings of up to £500 per year
- Discounts of up to 50% on activities, centre shop purchases, and cafes
- Additional rewards and offers from a wide range of shops, cinemas, and other partners
Application notes
Applicants should submit a CV and a supporting statement showing how they meet the role requirements. The organisation may close the vacancy earlier if it receives a high number of strong applications, so early application is encouraged. If applying on a mobile device such as an iPad, the CV must be available in cloud storage such as Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox.
Safeguarding and pre-employment checks
Places for People requires all employees, volunteers, and contractors to uphold safeguarding standards and help protect children, young people, and adults at risk. The recruitment process may include pre-employment screening and, where relevant, Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks to support a safe working environment. Employees are expected to follow safeguarding policies and report concerns in line with organisational procedures.
Equal opportunity commitments
The organisation supports the Armed Forces Covenant and guarantees interviews for eligible serving personnel, veterans, reservists, cadet instructors, and military spouses or partners who meet the essential criteria. It is also a Disability Confident Level 2 Employer, meaning disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria are guaranteed an interview. In addition, neurodivergent applicants who meet the criteria are also guaranteed an interview.
