Biologist

Overview

Seeking PhD-level biologists to contribute their expertise toward enhancing the safety of advanced artificial intelligence models. Applicants will utilize their deep scientific knowledge to assess and improve how AI systems address specialized topics within the life sciences. Previous experience with AI or machine learning is not mandatory, as comprehensive training on the workflow will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Create high-level expert prompts covering specialized life science subjects.
• Critically evaluate and annotate AI model outputs to ensure scientific correctness, usefulness, and proper treatment of sensitive content.
• Implement structured criteria to classify prompts and conversations precisely.

Eligibility and Qualifications

• Possession of a PhD degree in biology or a closely allied life science discipline (for example, molecular biology, microbiology, virology, genetics, biochemistry, bioinformatics, synthetic biology, immunology), either completed or ongoing.
• Extensive understanding of contemporary laboratory and computational methodologies relevant to the candidate's specialty.
• Proficient scientific reasoning skills and strong written command of the English language.
• Judicious handling of biosecurity concerns and dual-use information.

Desirable Attributes

• Experience in research or coursework involving biosafety, biosecurity, pathogen biology, or gain-of-function studies.
• Prior involvement in technical content review, grading, or red teaming processes.

Project Details

• Immediate start.
• Part-time commitment ranging from 15 to 25 hours weekly, with optional flexibility extending up to 40 hours per week.
