Role Objective

The Associate Manager - Operations is responsible for monitoring and managing plant systems such as Boiler, Turbine, Generator, Balance of Plant (BOP), switchyard, and transformer sections to ensure peak performance. The role demands executing startup and shutdown processes efficiently while overseeing Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) operations, equipment maintenance, energy conservation efforts, and adherence to environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate Boiler, Turbine, Generator, BOP, and electrical systems to maintain optimal functionality.
• Conduct plant startup and shutdown procedures as required.
• Closely track plant parameters and address any deviations promptly.
• Perform routine equipment changeovers and emergency drive trials.
• Manage emergencies related to Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) systems and coordinate swift responses.
• Handle switchyard and grid-related emergencies to minimize disruption.
• Ensure safe equipment isolation and restoration during operational or emergency scenarios.
• Execute and supervise Flue Gas Desulfurization system operations, maintaining system parameters.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate plant parameter logbooks.
• Promote energy-saving initiatives focusing on Specific Oil Consumption, Auxiliary Power Consumption, Demineralized Water usage, and Heat Rate optimization.
• Control critical chemistry parameters to sustain environmental compliance and operational efficacy.
• Implement FGD operations to reduce emissions in line with environmental regulations.
• Ensure compliance with IMS, AWMS, DISHA, and CHETNA policies within the operations department.
• Uphold equipment and personnel safety by adhering to safety training and protocols.
• Follow Permit to Work (PTW) systems and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) rigorously.
• Report plant defects and issues timely to shift in-charge personnel.
• Lead digitization and automation initiatives to enhance operation efficiency.
• Drive process and technology improvements by integrating innovative solutions.
• Coordinate internally with Maintenance Engineers to ensure seamless operations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution.
• At least 9 years of professional experience in power plant operations, particularly in thermal power plants.
• Prior experience in the power generation sector, specifically thermal power plants, is highly desirable.
