Job description
Role Overview
The Assistant Manager - Environment will be responsible for enforcing environmental legal compliance and managing the company's Environmental Management System (EMS) at the plant located in Krishnapatnam, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. This includes drafting and reviewing related policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and oversee STP, ETP, MEE, and water treatment plants to ensure the plant’s environmental compliance program is effectively managed.
- Monitor adherence to regulations set by Andhra Pradesh State Pollution Control Board, Central Pollution Control Board, and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEF), including timely submission of required documentation.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of relevant state and national environmental laws applicable to the plant.
- Gather and analyze environmental data to establish objectives and targets aimed at minimizing waste, pollution, and negative health/environmental impacts.
- Lead and coordinate environmental initiatives via training and educational programs to enhance environmental awareness among staff and track progress.
- Compile, analyze, and report Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) statistics in alignment with Bunge's guidelines.
- Investigate root causes of environmental incidents and recommend corrective measures.
- Evaluate environmental risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to water and air pollution, and waste management.
- Maintain ISO 14001 certification and all necessary environmental documentation.
- Conduct regular sampling and testing of soil, boreholes, drains, effluent discharge points, etc., to ensure compliance with permit requirements.
- Verify that all inputs and outputs comply with defined standards such as discharge consents and manage ongoing improvements for cost efficiency and operational processes.
- Handle legal submissions through pollution control portals, and manage all necessary consent orders and form submissions.
- Coordinate with environmental consultants for monthly monitoring activities ensuring guideline adherence.
- Collaborate with the environment audit team to review and submit audit reports to the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board within deadlines.
- Apply innovative environmental technologies focused on water and energy conservation.
- Work with the Global EHS team to verify legal compliances and review sustainability targets.
- Use SAP for procurement and payment processes including creating purchase requisitions and service entry sheets.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in Environmental Engineering from a recognized university or a postgraduate degree in environmental science accredited by the Andhra Pradesh State Pollution Control Board.
- 10 to 15 years of relevant professional experience.
- Proficient knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
