About the Role

We are seeking an Assistant Litigation Solicitor or Litigation CILEX Practitioner to join Anglian Water’s in-house legal team in the Huntingdon area. This permanent part-time role involves supporting the business by managing civil litigation, especially debt recovery cases, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and delivering effective case outcomes. The position offers a hybrid working model with 1–2 days weekly in the office, flexible hours, and significant employee benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle a diverse range of civil litigation matters, including both pursuing and defending claims.
  • Review and approve case strategies to ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory obligations.
  • Evaluate evidence, prioritize cases, and decide on suitable resolution paths such as settlements or judgments.
  • Represent the company at court hearings when required.
  • Advise the business on legal aspects of debt recovery policies and processes.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to facilitate effective debt recovery efforts.
  • Ensure timely progression of cases in accordance with court deadlines and procedures.
  • Contribute to team development by sharing knowledge and mentoring junior colleagues when needed.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent legal support throughout the organization.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Solicitor or CILEX Practitioner with at least five years of civil litigation experience.
  • Solid expertise in debt recovery and monetary claim processes.
  • Familiarity with county court procedures and Civil Procedure Rules.
  • Ability to independently manage workloads and meet critical deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills including confidence in managing challenging discussions.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective stakeholder management and collaborative approach.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Advocacy experience, supervision capabilities, and knowledge of regulated sectors are advantageous.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are preferred.
