About the Role
We are seeking an Assistant Litigation Solicitor or Litigation CILEX Practitioner to join Anglian Water’s in-house legal team in the Huntingdon area. This permanent part-time role involves supporting the business by managing civil litigation, especially debt recovery cases, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and delivering effective case outcomes. The position offers a hybrid working model with 1–2 days weekly in the office, flexible hours, and significant employee benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle a diverse range of civil litigation matters, including both pursuing and defending claims.
- Review and approve case strategies to ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory obligations.
- Evaluate evidence, prioritize cases, and decide on suitable resolution paths such as settlements or judgments.
- Represent the company at court hearings when required.
- Advise the business on legal aspects of debt recovery policies and processes.
- Collaborate with operational teams to facilitate effective debt recovery efforts.
- Ensure timely progression of cases in accordance with court deadlines and procedures.
- Contribute to team development by sharing knowledge and mentoring junior colleagues when needed.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent legal support throughout the organization.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Solicitor or CILEX Practitioner with at least five years of civil litigation experience.
- Solid expertise in debt recovery and monetary claim processes.
- Familiarity with county court procedures and Civil Procedure Rules.
- Ability to independently manage workloads and meet critical deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills including confidence in managing challenging discussions.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Effective stakeholder management and collaborative approach.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Advocacy experience, supervision capabilities, and knowledge of regulated sectors are advantageous.
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are preferred.
