About the Role
The New York Post is a renowned multi-platform media organization delivering news, sports, pop culture, and entertainment content to an audience of around 90 million unique viewers monthly. With a history spanning over 224 years, it operates across print, digital, video, audio, apps, television, and e-commerce platforms. The Assistant Digital Production Intern position offers a hands-on experience to work closely with editorial, web, and social media teams in a lively and fast-paced newsroom environment based in Midtown Manhattan.
Responsibilities
- Source and produce engaging content from wire services that align with the unique style and tone of The Post.
- Occasionally pitch and author stories that appeal strongly to The Post's online audience by demonstrating creativity and awareness of trending topics.
- Collaborate actively with web and social media departments to cover breaking news and ensure timely, accurate updates for readers.
- Utilize analytics tools to track audience engagement, interpret data insights, and inform ways to improve content effectiveness.
- Maintain live stories by updating photos, links, and relevant information to keep content fresh and compelling.
- Develop and apply strategies to enhance content recirculation through digital tools such as reusable blocks and info boxes.
- Ensure live stories comply with editorial standards and are properly optimized for digital platforms.
Qualifications and Skills
- Able to swiftly locate and integrate suitable photos, videos, and multimedia elements to enrich storytelling.
- Comfortable managing multiple assignments simultaneously and thrive under tight deadlines in a dynamic newsroom atmosphere.
- Deep interest in digital media, online content creation, and engaging a diverse readership via digital channels.
- Proficient or willing to work with analytics platforms to monitor reader response and help identify content trends and improvement opportunities.
- Innovative mindset towards enhancing content visibility and recirculation by leveraging digital production tools.
- Highly organized with a strong commitment to maintaining editorial quality and ensuring stories are tailored for digital publication.
- Collaborative spirit, enthusiastic about working with experienced web and social media teams, especially when addressing urgent news coverage.
- Curious and proactive in discovering fascinating stories from wire services and contributing ideas that captivate the audience.
Additional Information
This internship is set to run from September 14, 2026, to November 20, 2026, requiring approximately 24 hours per week. It demands in-office presence at the Midtown Manhattan location and is targeted at current juniors and seniors pursuing a Bachelor's degree, Master's students, and graduates who have completed their degree within the past year.
