About the Role
Located in Hamilton or Tauranga, this role calls for a skilled communications professional passionate about crafting engaging content, fostering strong relationships, and effecting meaningful community impact. The Advisor will engage with partners and stakeholders throughout the Waikato or Bay of Plenty regions, supporting various projects with communications and engagement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer expert communications and engagement counsel to project teams and business stakeholders.
- Assist in the creation and execution of communications and engagement strategies.
- Develop quality content for multiple channels including newsletters, digital media, and project updates.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with communities, partners, and stakeholders.
- Identify and promote compelling narratives highlighting the positive outcomes of NZTA's initiatives.
- Participate in community engagement events and stakeholder communications efforts.
- Help manage communication risks and address issues promptly.
- Utilize appropriate communication tools and channels to target messages effectively.
- Gather insights and feedback to enhance future communication and engagement efforts.
About You
You are a forward-thinking communicator who thrives on collaboration, learning, and delivering high-quality work. You possess excellent organisational skills, an ability to juggle multiple priorities while ensuring accuracy, and adapt easily to dynamic situations.
You bring:
- Proven experience in communications, engagement, public relations, or related fields.
- Strong writing and editorial skills that transform complex information into clear, engaging messages.
- Familiarity with various communication channels, tools, and best practices.
- A track record of building positive and productive relationships.
- A collaborative mindset eager to learn from colleagues.
- Sound judgement, capable of identifying risks and proposing solutions.
- A positive, proactive attitude dedicated to delivering superior results.
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in communications or a related discipline.
- Training or certification in IAP2 is advantageous but not mandatory.
Applicants should demonstrate knowledge or a willingness to learn about Te Ao Māori and actively promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. Understanding and appreciating te Tiriti o Waitangi's significance in the public sector is also important.
