Internship Overview
This internship program offers a practical, hands-on experience designed to immerse interns in the media and news industry. Interns play an essential role on projects impacting the organization and participate in career advancement workshops while building lasting connections within the company.
Role Description
The Post's video department combines a historic newspaper legacy with fresh, ambitious digital video initiatives. The goal is to create bold, clever, and distinctive videos that capture audience attention and redefine viewing habits. We seek a YouTube Intern who is energetic, detail-focused, and passionate about news—particularly hard news and entertainment. This candidate will collaborate closely with the video team to enhance and expand the YouTube channel’s presence. Responsibilities include ideating, scheduling, optimizing content, and contributing to the development of the channel’s editorial tone.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the publishing and optimization of videos on YouTube.
- Track news and entertainment trends to propose timely content ideas.
- Ensure all videos are correctly tagged, titled, and categorized.
- Assist the video team in meeting tight deadlines in a fast-moving newsroom atmosphere.
Qualifications
- Genuine enthusiasm for news, especially hard news and entertainment.
- Prior experience managing or using YouTube as a content platform (either professionally or personally).
- Excellent editorial judgment regarding compelling digital stories.
- Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Capability to prioritize and juggle multiple assignments effectively under deadline pressure.
- Familiarity with YouTube Studio, metadata optimization, and video analytics is advantageous.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Educational background in journalism, communications, media, or related fields.
- Experience with video editing software or thumbnail creation tools.
- Understanding of copyright laws and fair use policies.
Additional Information
This internship runs from September 14, 2026, through November 20, 2026, requiring part-time, on-site presence approximately 24 hours per week. Open to juniors, seniors, MA students, and recent graduates (within one year of completing their degree). The position offers $20 per hour as an estimated base pay.
