Role Overview
The position of Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) / Environmental Control Officer (ECO) is a full-time, on-site role in Singapore. The appointed individual will be responsible for managing workplace safety and environmental health concerns through routine site inspections and ensuring alignment with relevant local laws and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify potential hazards and hazards mitigation by recommending corrective actions and ensuring their execution.
- Maintain and prepare comprehensive safety records and documentation.
- Coordinate and facilitate safety training sessions and contribute actively to safety meetings and audits.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to advance a culture focused on safety and environmental stewardship.
Qualifications and Skills
- Certification as a Workplace Safety and Health Officer and/or Environmental Control Officer recognized in Singapore.
- In-depth understanding of Singapore’s workplace safety, health regulations, environmental rules, and BCA/WSH Council guidelines.
- Hands-on experience with site safety inspections, risk assessments, investigations of incidents, and conducting safety audits specific to construction settings.
- Competence in generating safety reports, organizing documentation, and creating procedures such as method statements and emergency response plans.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with site staff, conduct safety briefings, and promote safe working methods.
- Strong organizational and time management capabilities to handle multiple concurrent projects and adhere to deadlines.
- Proficient with standard office software (word processors, spreadsheets, presentation tools) for reporting and training preparation.
- Preferably experienced in Singapore’s building construction projects with a working knowledge of main contractor processes.
- Adaptability to on-site work requirements and effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
