Job description

Overview

Central Coast Council is offering traineeship opportunities for enthusiastic individuals eager to gain practical experience and technical training as Water and Sewer Operators. The training program aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully complete the traineeship and pursue a career in the water and sewer industry.

Program Details

The traineeship spans two years starting January 2027 under a Training Contract. Trainees will complete a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations through NSW TAFE or a Registered Training Organisation. Initial placement is as a first-year trainee working under a qualified supervisor's guidance. Rotations among various job sites might be required to gain comprehensive practical exposure. Council provides a thorough development program exploring multiple aspects of the trade. Employment after completing the traineeship is not guaranteed.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum qualification: Year 10 School Certificate or equivalent; current Year 10 students may apply conditional on completion prior to joining.
  • Demonstrable interest or experience in the water and sewer trade.
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency status.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
