Visual Design Specialist

About the Role

Mercor links top-tier creative and technical professionals with pioneering AI research institutions. Based in San Francisco and backed by notable investors such as Benchmark, General Catalyst, and Jack Dorsey, Mercor is seeking a Design Expert for a contract position. This role offers a remote working arrangement with compensation ranging from $80 to $150 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

• Create precise and task-focused grading standards for real-world design outputs including branding identity systems, campaign visuals, and packaging designs.
• Evaluate both AI-generated and human design samples according to these criteria, providing thorough written explanations to justify each score.
• Ensure consistency and reproducibility in scoring by applying evidence-based judgment.
• Incorporate feedback from senior reviewers promptly, refining evaluations as needed.
• Work independently and collaborate asynchronously to adhere to deadlines and enhance AI model accuracy.

Required Qualifications

• Over five years of professional experience in graphic, brand, or visual design.
• Experience at elite design studios, creative agencies, or senior design positions within notable consumer or tech brands.
• Comprehensive expertise in typography, layout, color theory, visual hierarchy, composition, and brand system development.
• Strong proficiency in written communication.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a willingness to have professional judgments reviewed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior involvement in AI training, evaluation, or human-data related initiatives.
