About the Role
As a Transmission Line Patroller at Northpower, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and efficient operation of New Zealand's transmission network. This position involves working largely outdoors in varied settings, where you will inspect transmission line assets, detect potential risks early, and provide thorough information critical to maintenance planning and network dependability. The job offers significant independence alongside collaboration with operational teams, landowners, and customers to ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electricity services.
Role Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled patrols and inspections of transmission lines to identify and document defects in structures, vegetation, access points, and third-party activities via Northpower’s digital platforms.
- Maintain precise records of assets and landowner details, complete inspection documentation, and ensure compliance with standards.
- Report findings to help prioritize maintenance activities effectively.
- Monitor and maintain access tracks.
- Assist with liaison activities involving landowners and stakeholders.
- Participate in audits and initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.
- Ensure all work complies with health, safety, environmental, regulatory, and customer requirements.
- Represent Northpower professionally in the field and contribute actively to a culture that values safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Relevant transmission qualifications or certifications are required.
- Possession of a full, clean New Zealand driver's licence.
- Previous experience working in transmission environments; familiarity with Transpower assets preferred.
- Strong dedication to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in capturing field data.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities with a focus on customer service.
- Capacity to work independently in an outdoor, fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills are advantageous.
- Experience with drone operation is preferred; comprehensive training will be provided if needed.
