Trackworker

About the role

Queensland Rail is hiring a permanent full-time Trackworker to join its Track team in Hughenden, where the focus is on maintaining and caring for the railway network in and around the Hughenden region.

This is a physically demanding field-based role that involves heavy manual work, including tasks such as replacing sleepers and carrying out a range of track maintenance duties. You’ll be working outdoors in demanding conditions, including high temperatures and difficult weather.

What you’ll do

• Support repair and maintenance work on railway track infrastructure.
• Complete manual labour tasks, including emergency response work and flood-related repairs.
• Carry out duties in a safe, efficient, and team-focused manner.

Benefits and support

• Potential earnings of $95,000+ with 12.75% superannuation, including applicable penalties, based on the current roster.
• 9-day fortnight roster pattern, with shifts running 0600 to 1500 in summer and 0700 to 1600 in winter.
• Travel required within the roster is paid, including expenses and accommodation.
• Paid training and continued support, including a Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure.
• All PPE and tools are provided.
• Opportunities to gain a First Aid certificate and mobile plant tickets.
• Strong emphasis on safety and making sure everyone returns home safely each day.
