Role overview

The organization is looking for a Textile Surface Embellishment / Embroidery Designer who combines artistic sensibility with technical understanding of fabrics and manufacturing. The role focuses on creating fresh design concepts, building sampling ranges, and translating trend research into seasonal collections and production-ready work.

What you will do

• Develop original, trend-led embroidery and surface embellishment ideas.
• Study fashion directions, market movements, and forecast inputs to shape new collection concepts.
• Prepare presentation boards, mood boards, and colour directions for design reviews.
• Create illustrations, artworks, and design proposals with strong visual clarity.
• Build sampling ranges and seasonal collections aligned with trend research and forecasting.
• Develop colour palettes suited to different themes and collection stories.
• Create proto samples and support fittings for sampling and production.
• Take designs through the full workflow until final production approval.
• Coordinate with pattern makers to turn sketches and inspiration references into custom patterns and new samples.
• Use Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Ned Graphics (Jacquard) tools in the design process.

What we are looking for

• Strong artistic ability and a clear eye for design.
• Practical knowledge of fabrics, materials, and how textile manufacturing works.
• Ability to blend creative thinking with technical execution.
• Experience or interest in embroidery design and textile surface embellishment.
• Comfort working with digital design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Ned Graphics.
• Capability to research trends, forecast collections, and translate them into sample development.

Education

A Bachelor of Design (B.Des) or Master of Design (M.Des) is specified for this role.
