Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Studio Manager with technical expertise and leadership qualities to oversee daily studio operations. This role involves managing the studio team, ensuring outstanding client experiences, maintaining technical standards, supporting complex productions, and collaborating with various departments to enhance workflows and studio performance. The position requires hands-on involvement in a dynamic production setting and offers the opportunity to be part of an innovative podcast company.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily activities of podcast studios, ensuring recording spaces, equipment, and workflows uphold high professional standards
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Studio Assistants and Engineers through training, guidance, and feedback
Manage scheduling, staffing, and resource distribution to enable smooth client session delivery
Prepare, support, and uphold high technical and creative standards for podcast, interview, and video sessions
Serve as the lead technical contact for studio operations, addressing complex issues related to audio, video, lighting, and equipment
Enhance studio technical procedures, documentation, and best practices
Coordinate closely with Production, Client Services, and other teams to ensure seamless communication and client satisfaction
Maintain strong client and partner relationships by addressing enquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally
Manage equipment setup, maintenance, inventory, and repairs or upgrades as necessary
Onboard and train new team members to cultivate required technical and operational competencies
Monitor studio performance to identify and implement improvements for efficiency and quality
Manage media workflows including data handling, file organization, storage, and delivery protocols
Support complex productions like multi-camera, remote recordings, live streams, and client-specific technical demands
Contribute to ongoing enhancement of studio operations, technology integration, and client experience

Required Skills and Experience

Demonstrated experience managing podcast or interview recording setups in a professional, client-facing environment
Direct client interaction with production companies and creative teams to deliver quality studio experiences
Proven track record leading and developing a diverse small studio team including Studio Assistants and Engineers
Effective handling of client inquiries and complaint resolution while maintaining strong relationships
Comprehensive knowledge of studio operations including equipment prep, session management, troubleshooting, and efficient workflows
Strong administrative capabilities with email management, spreadsheets, project tracking
Familiarity with project management tools like ClickUp for task and workflow management
Proficient with Sony FX3 and FX6 camera systems
Knowledgeable in digital mixing consoles and audio workflows
Experienced with Godox or equivalent professional lighting equipment
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Premiere Pro
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Physically able to handle light equipment setup, lifting, and studio maintenance independently

Additional Preferred Experience

Advanced camera and lighting techniques such as Cine EI, Log workflows, and professional picture profiles
High-level audio techniques including EQ, compression, dynamics, and broadcast standards
Experience with remote podcast platforms like Riverside
Use of live streaming and production platforms such as vMix
Familiarity with studio equipment including HDMI switchers, talkback amplifiers, teleprompters, and broadcast AV systems
Experience in enhancing studio workflows and operational standards
Interdepartmental collaboration supporting broader production and business goals

Compensation and Benefits

Annual salary ranging from £34,000 to £39,000 depending on experience, with an additional £5.77/hour for shifts after 6 PM and weekends
Standard working hours are 45 per week (Monday to Friday, approximately 9am to 6pm including breaks), with requirement for schedule flexibility due to studio operation hours from 8am to 9pm and weekend openings
