Job description
Role Overview
The Specification Manager in the Decorative Projects segment is responsible for overseeing all specifications-related activities, focusing on major projects and key clients to strategically penetrate markets and establish the Client as the preferred supplier. This role is based in Doha, Qatar, reporting directly to the Decorative Sales Manager – Projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and nurture strong connections with key upstream clients and project owners to influence specification choices during the project management phase.
- Maintain regular engagement with clients and project owners through visits, seminars, and presentations to promote Client solutions.
- Coordinate closely with the sales team by sharing updates on projects and specifications to ensure effective follow-up and product delivery.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to implement the Single Source Solution (SSS) strategy, ensuring comprehensive project delivery with early involvement and continued follow-up as needed.
- Keep abreast of market activities, new prospects, and competitor movements to maintain an updated project opportunity database.
- Identify and map relevant projects to secure Client specifications and support business expansion.
- Build a robust professional network with government bodies, consultants, architects, designers, and engineers to assist in gaining specification approvals from project decision-makers.
- Monitor trends in construction and paint markets to leverage insights that strengthen Client’s market positioning.
- Contribute to meeting sales targets by securing approvals and providing consistent updates on project statuses.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3 to 8 years of professional experience in specifications management, sales, or business development roles.
- Strong commercial acumen combined with effective project management and CRM proficiency.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Preferred experience in coating, construction, or other project-driven industries.
- Previous engagement with government entities, clients, and consultants is advantageous.
- Robust understanding of commercial insights, stakeholder mapping, and CRM best practices.
