Role Overview

We are seeking a Space Quality Assurance Engineer knowledgeable in ECSS-Q standards to contribute to quality and product assurance tasks for satellite or spacecraft initiatives. The role requires practical experience in space project quality assurance, including technical documentation review, process compliance monitoring, supplier coordination, audits, and handling non-conformances.

Responsibilities

• Assist in quality assurance and product assurance activities for satellite or spacecraft projects.
• Verify that project processes and outputs adhere to ECSS-Q standards.
• Review technical documents, quality records, test data, and project deliverables for compliance.
• Support design, manufacturing, test readiness, and acceptance reviews.
• Track non-conformances, corrective actions, deviations, waivers, and quality risks.
• Participate in internal and supplier audits and ensure follow-up on corrective actions.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and project management teams.
• Provide supplier quality oversight and validate supplier documentation as necessary.
• Maintain traceability for quality requirements, supporting evidence, and project documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to QA processes, templates, and reporting.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance, product assurance, or quality engineering roles.
• Background in the space or aerospace sectors.
• Solid understanding and practical application of ECSS-Q standards.
• Expertise handling non-conformance management, corrective actions, and deviations.
• Experience reviewing technical and test documentation as well as quality records.
• Competence supporting project reviews, audits, inspections, and acceptance procedures.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
• Ability to effectively engage with technical engineering teams within structured projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with specific ECSS-Q standards: ECSS-Q-ST-10, ECSS-Q-ST-20, ECSS-Q-ST-60 (EEE components), ECSS-Q-ST-70 (materials, mechanical parts, processes), ECSS-Q-ST-80 (software product assurance).
• Previous involvement in satellite, spacecraft, payload, or ground segment programs.
• Proficiency in German language, spoken and written.

Additional Details

This is a full-time contractor position based onsite in Friedrichshafen, Germany. Assistance with relocation will be provided. Applicants must hold an EU passport. English fluency is mandatory; knowledge of German is advantageous.
